Roland Luce - Breckenridge
Roland Luce has been an Epic Pass holder for the majority of his snowboarding career; as it has always allowed him to access a wide variety of different mountains in Colorado, Utah and beyond each and every year. But of all the large mountains, diverse terrain and fun villages all of the resorts owned by Vail Resorts are, Breckenridge holds a special place in Roland’s heart. It is the one resort he most often brings friends and family to when they come visit; mostly because it is friendly for boarders, skiers and those who simply just want to walk around a quaint village area.
Breckenridge has five different peaks, all of which boast their own set of appeals. Peak 6 is the newest addition to Breckenridge, with fun and steep terrain that is excellent on powder days. Peak 8 is home to Imperial Peak, where the highest quad-lift in America takes you to nearly 12,000 feet and even allows you the option to hike up further.
Then there’s Peak 10, which offers some of the most complex terrain on the mountain. The trees get super tight, and the potential for cliff drops also elevates a little bit. There are so many things to do in Breckenridge it appeals to tourists of all kinds, including the ones who have no desire to ski or snowboard at all.
Roland Luce - Copper Mountain
Roland Luce is an avid snowboarder who knows all of the Colorado mountains well, after spending a lifetime in the foothills where he grew up in the town of Golden. For him, Copper Mountain has been within a 45 minute drive for most of his life; and he has been a regular season pass holder there.
There are many things about Copper that keep Roland Luce coming back, For example, you can get free cat rides up Tucker Mountain for some incredible steeps at the cost of a short extra hike. Or, if you just want to work on your park skills, Copper has ample terrain parks on the mountain as well as their indoor Woodward Park, nicknamed “the Barn”. The Barn is a great spot for people to work n their more technical air tricks, as there is a foam pit that you can land right into without any worry of hurting yourself.
The Barn is where Roland Luce learned all of his tricks, which would explain his ability to do rotations and grabs as well as talk about his zero hospital visits as a lifetime snowboarder. But it was here on this special mountain that he learned all of his best tricks that he can still do today.
